TBR18 is the latest Formula Student team from the University of Bath.

The 26 engineering students, in their third year of study, have begun designing a Formula Student car to be raced in the 2018 season. The team aims to win Class 2, in the style of TBR16. With recent rule changes coming into effect, TBR18 will bring an innovative new design to competition with a brand-new, turbocharged 690cc powertrain, using E85, a floor-centric aerodynamics package and a hybrid chassis consisting of a front carbon monocoque and rear carbon spaceframe. The design is optimised for transient performance to maximise competition points, with the team looking to win in both Class 2, and then Class 1 a year later. As Formula Student is a design and business competition, TBR18 are organised to match. Each member has both a technical design role and a business role. The technical team is divided up into aerodynamics, chassis, powertrain, and vehicle dynamics. The project manager takes overall responsibility while the business manager is responsible for the real-world operation of the team’s business.
