The University of Glasgow’s Class 2 team is composed mostly of first year engineering students and focuses on giving new members the opportunity to research and design components that will be featured in the Class 1 entry in future years.
A Triumph 675cc inline 3 cylinder was chosen to provide smooth power delivery while retaining a high power to weight ratio, combined with a lightweight chassis comprising of a CFRP front monocoque and steel rear space frame chassis. To further increase performance, the vehicle also features an aerodynamic package, a double-wishbone suspension system with inboard dampers and 4-way adjustability, a digital dashboard and user friendly data logging to assist with analysis and tuning.
