As a very young team, the focus this season for the Formula Salford Race Team has been placed on producing a rolling chassis with suspension, brakes, steering and pedal box.

The team consists of nine engineers and six business team members, all of whom are actively involved in every aspect of the project. The process of designing this year’s car for Class 2 has been undertaken alongside production of next year’s car. This not only provides engineers and business team members with the essential experience to continue the project next year, but also provides cost and efficiency savings for the team. The main objectives for this season’s competition include gaining experience and maximising knowledge retention from other, more experienced teams. Coming from a university without an automotive engineering department, the team aims to find new and innovative ways of working with sponsors and motorsport companies to ensure that the project remains a success for future students.
