SR-16 Class 2 seeks to make a big sustainability statement. The hybrid monocoque design of our Class 1 team is updated by utilising recycled carbon fibre. Discontinuous carbon fibre and recycled drinking straws provide an extremely strong and sustainable option. Also incorporating piezoelectric coating on the suspension and steering components, recovering energy for powering visual aids and telemetry. Plant oils are used in the engine and the nose cone is constructed from recycled bottle tops and plastic bags. Several Sussex racing Class 2 members will graduate into Class 1 for 2017 and are excited to showcase our sustainable ideas.
