I was thinking the samw until CHI shipped Jones off to FLA for a 1st Rd & Spencer Knight tonight. (CHI retained 26% of Jones’ salary).

We’ll see how the rest of the year and playoffs pan out for Lindgren. He’s had a bad year but if things look positive I could see the Avs offering a “prove it” deal much like they’ve done with Drouin who rehabbed his career

This trade answers another question: Is it time to give up on this year and look to the future in acquisitions? I believe the last two games gave the front office the answer that they will try to strengthen this year’s roster to make a playoff run. The lack of term on the new players makes that clear. If the NJ and Minny games had gone like the STL game, this trade would never be made. It also makes it clear that something else is coming.

I thought exactly like you did that bringing in Lindgren could be the herald that another right-shot defenseman could be in play. Jones would probably make the most sense and be the best fit, but I could also see Ristolainen being a logical get.
