What Dave said. The Rangers are 6-1-3 their last ten, and are finally figuring things out. They’re going to be really dangerous down the stretch, and let’s nit forget that almost this identical team won the President’s Trophy last season – basically they’ve only lost Trouba and Kaako, who weren’t producing at all this season.

Hi Kevin,

I just sent this to our team to look into it. I’ll get back to you

But he didn’t talk, because as much as I respect him, he lacks the ability to lead without being on the ice.

The Montreal loss doesn’t look as bad for sure. They are beating everybody it seems like, but FL is losing to everyone and NYR are a laughing stock right now. 4-4-2 is not a good record and mirrors our record more or less before the Blackwood trade that was supposed to save our season!

Subscriber and stopped getting the emails a few days ago. This happened last year sometime too and it took like 3 months to get it fixed. Can you help?

That entire Winnipeg game was scratching and clawing to stay in it. Without a fourth line and an anemic PP plus the loss of Nichushkin and the Landy situation – – the Avs are an above average team relying too much on its superstars.

Kudos to MacFarland for solving the goalie issue. That was truly a stroke of genius and it prevented the entire season from going down the crapper. I just don’t see any options with the cap like it is. You can hope that Nuke comes back and that the other players step up but that’s about it. Maybe Blackwood gets incredibly hot in the playoffs. Unfortunately, I see an early playoff exit with the Avs possibly winning one series and that’s it.

Hellebuyck was the difference, as he truly is for the Jets. He should be a candidate for the Hart this season, in addition to another Vezina.

When I was looking ahead at the schedule before the calendar flipped to 2025, I had those five games highlighted as the toughest stretch of a brutal month of January. I figured if we could get out of it with 2-3 wins, I’d be happy; if we got 4-5 wins, I’d be shocked but ecstatic; and if we got 1 or no wins, I’d be disappointed but not necessarily surprised. To get 5 points against that slate of teams, all playing really well (NYR only have one regulation loss in their last 10, and are charging back up the Metro standings, so yes they count as a team playing really well), I call that a victory.

All total in this month so far, we’ve gone 5-4-2, which obviously isn’t ideal, but given the persistent injuries, lack of 4th line production, and non-existent power play, it’s also not terrible. When you also consider the teams we beat: Florida, Minnesota, NYR, and Dallas (as well as bottom-dwelling Buffalo) – as well as the teams we got the OT losses to: red-hot Montreal and top seeded Winnipeg – I’d say we’ve done quite well, actually. This game hurts, we could have won it – just like the Edmonton game – but you take your positives as well as the point in the standings and move on to the upcoming East road trip.

Side note: Makar showed again with his post game availability why he’ll be the next captain of this team.
