The Mikko trade was always a close call. The massive changes in personnel and lack of practice time and playing time lead to poor special teams performance. Dallas was incredible on the PK and our PP was not we’re is could have been. We are now NYR or Vancouver. We will are in the hunt. We need to not panic

There’s no guarantees in sport, you just have to do your best, and everyone did.

Yes, I have been thinking the same. Hand or finger, most likely.

Every goal mattered. He was involved in every point scored and was a one man comeback. There’s people who watched this and think having that guy on the team is a bad idea. Oh no they can’t pay Casey Mittelstadt, Brock Nelson, Jonathan Drouin, Marty Necas, Jack Drury, Charlie Coyle, or Nuke if they keep Mikko. Who gives a shit? There’s more contending teams than there are players of Mikko’s caliber. You don’t lose that guy. You let him go without an extension and he can sign anywhere, even a division rival. Which is what happened.

You want multiple Cups, do you watch other sports? Do you know what they call teams that win multiple championships? Dynasties. Dynasties are built on dynastic players. Every team figures out a way to pay their guys. Tampa has a bunch of big contracts and they found a way. Vegas did. Florida did. Pittsburgh did. Chicago did. You make it work. The most recent player they’ve had that they drafted and developed is Cale Makar. He’s approaching his third contract. Excellent world class player but this was six years ago.

Logan O’Connor was a free agent. He’s been good for what he is, same with Malinski. Outside of that their drafted and developed players on the roster are Gabe, Nate, Cale. Good players but the other guys they’ve drafted and developed have been traded. Kovy was sent out in a pretty good deal. Byram was given away for a completely useless player. Their bottom six is all making market-ish money:

Ross Colton: Trade
Miles Wood: UFA
Parker Kelly: UFA
Jaxk Drury: Trade
Charlie Coyle: Trade
Joel Kiviranta: UFA

tbe defense has one drafted and developed player, he’s the best player in the world but

Devon Toews: Trade
Sammy Girard: Trade
Josh Manson: Trade
Charlie Lindgren: Trade
Erik Johnson: Trade (both times)

Malinski and OC were nice college free agents. Two depth players isn’t enough for a team like Colorado. Mikko Rantanen wasn’t hurting Colorado’s depth. Colorado’s inability to produce major league talent was hurting their depth issues.

They could have signed him and paid Makar. They just couldn’t afford highly paid bums, which they have in plenty.

So the answer to someone calling you out for being a d*ck toward someone like Aarif who has a different opinion than yours is to call them a Karen. I guess that’s the best you got. Nice!

His agent got him paid. He’s still playing hockey for the Cup favorites in a no state income tax state. Agent did fine by his client. MacFarland did poorly by his organization.

Let’s also not forget he did sign for less than MacKinnon. Just an all around brutal take. Par for the course for MacSuckland fans.
