They say the same about pretty much every team in the KHL and he broke through that barrier.

To be seen. But if his skating skills are really that exceptional, then he’s above Sammy as a skater with perhaps more speed and elusiveness. That’s what I’m hoping for.

That’s the way they do it.”

and couldn’t help to think that he’ll fit right into the Avs org

I totally agree with you plus Gretzky finished last in his team strength testing sessions. He worked out quite well 😉

I’m looking forward to Gulyayev getting over here and it says a lot that he’s playing in the KHL at his age with ice time now.

Thanks for the story Evan and I look forward to the film room on him.

No wasting around at the Eagle level. Either I can play or I can’t. While he might be undersized, if his skating is as good as Evan says it is, then that can compensate for a lot. You can’t hit what you can’t see. Gretzky was only 6′ 0″ and thin when he came into the league. But his superb skating skills and anticipation were evident from day one. I’m not trying to compare Gulyayev to Gretzky’s career – – I’m only making the reference that superior skating skills and elusiveness, if they are truly elite, adds a dimension that is hard to defend against.
