Also missed the point. I will say if my initial post came across as an attack, I apologize. I’m just beyond all the Avs media & fans acting as if the guy’s life is in peril (his NHL career yes). My main point was/is clearly there’s a disconnect between the Avs & Val regarding him having a problem.

And for everybody to assume he has some crippling addiction just because of him making a poor choice in Seattle with who he invited into his room..is a leap. Lots of successful people recreationally use certain drugs or drink more than they probably should. If they show up for work & perform. I personally don’t care. And to our knowledge he always did. Enough to earn him a huge contract & to be along with Cale & Nate the most important player on the roster.

First & foremost you don’t personally know him. So to say he’s a “low integrity individual” is idiotic. Secondly you clearly don’t know how the world works. If a crime had been committed the Avs would not have aided him fleeing the scene lol. And even if they had, which is a huge stretch. There’s these things called criminal investigations. So police would have deterred a crime had been committed & followed up with potential charges.

My main point was he clearly never asked for help. His performance on the ice was the best of his career. If the incident in Seattle never happens there’s a very good chance he doesn’t get caught up in this non – sensical NHL player assistance program. Not condoning his actions in a team hotel prior to a playoff game. But the guy never missed a practice or game to our knowledge as a result of whatever vice or vices he has. And if the Seattle incident never happened, the Avs probably would’ve continued to either not know of any issues nor cared.

That’s one of the more idiotic statements I’ve seen on the topic. Val’s garbage antics have derailed the team at the worst possible time TWO YEARS IN A ROW!!! He literally has impacted the team negatively on the ice, which basically invalidates your point about not caring what they do off ice as long as they perform. And if the team hadn’t hustled him out of the hotel in Seattle and covered for him he very well might have been arrested then. He’s proven himself to be a low integrity individual who doesn’t care about his teammates. And I’m willing to bet they’re sick of his antics too, maybe even more than the fans.

So, to summarize, you don’t care about Nichushkin off the the ice, but me caring about him off the ice is both deeply concerning and (somehow) also an insult to you. I guess I was really out of place there, caring without your permission.

Everyone assumes he has some debalatating addiction. Whatever his vice, he was able to hide it from the Avs as an organization until a prostitute got drunk in his room.

His play on the ice never dipped. If anything he only has gotten better & better. Maybe he likes to indulge in whatever he indulges in recreationally (to him). And there’s a disconnect between him & the organization in that regard. Of course it’s a moot point because he’s been branded an addict & is in the player program.

I’m old school..I don’t care how these grown men choose to live their lives. The guy always showed up & played well as an Av. He never committed a crime, missed a game or practice to our knowledge. So..whatever. Guys in all sports have engaged in all sorts of illicit behaviors. Once they’re off the clock, just like anyone of us. Their business, don’t care.

The fans that pretend that you’re cold hearted for not being personally invested in these guys as people need to grow up. Do you honestly think any of the Avs players lose sleep worrying about the fans? Really??

Resign jones as 7th dmen?

You can sign all jones and aho at 900k whole kulikov at 1.2 million.

The extra 3 million van be used to sign drouin.

Agree completely.

What I found interesting is that John Cooper was on the TNT panel last week and he told a story about one player getting a rod put in his leg during the playoffs when they won the cup. That apparently had never been publicly disclosed. So if he can do that (seemingly without repercussions) then why cannot the Avs?

The circle the wagons approach to maintain secrecy around so many issues, at all levels of hockey, is maddening.
