Nothing worse than the deplorable sports writer penchant for shortening team names to garbage. i know of NO ONE who calls the Avalanche the “‘Lanche” – in 28 years of following the team, I have never heard any Avs fan do so. Sports writers are the only ones who use it. It’s as bad as calling the Coyotes “the ‘Yotes”. Both are stupid.

Huh! I had a good laugh. I remember when I got NHL96, I asked my brother how come the Nordiques had all our players? Mind you those were the days before the internet, i.e. info’s weren’t readily available!

I vote for Aaron Miller #3! He got snubbed getting his name on the Cup in 1996 AND in 2001, and LA wouldn’t give up Blake without him in the trade. Plus he was Captain of the UVM Catamounts after John LeClair my senior year. Go Cats Go! Silver medalist for Team USA as well.

Yes Ville Nieminen! Very entertaining article, thank you. I laughed out loud for ”retire 22 for Lemieux when Detroit is in town”. Some very good points also like how people forget how good of a played Claude actually was.

Love for Deader yes for sure but where did you leave Scott Young?! Man Scott Young also part of that same team USA and he must have one of the most overlooked careers in league history. And then Valeri Kamensky, scored the first goal in Avs history and the first Avs hattrick in Denver (Lemieux scored first overall Avs hattrick).

EA Sports also had NHL’96 with Quebec. I created Yelle and Klemm but the game didn’t allow you to give them superstar skills.
