Funny, I was going to comment that nobody is calling for Kaapo’s head yet. On those first two goals Kylington never moved to pick up the shooter as it was either his man or he was at least the closest to Kucherov. The speed at this level is just too fast for him. I also thought the Av’s played hard but they are just over matched by Tampa as this point in time. Stupid play by Stienburg. Great analysis as always Aarif!

Avs are way more in this game if they either produce at xG rate or defend at xGA rate. Didn’t even need both to happen for this to be more of a game. Avs just don’t finish enough 5v5.

Bednar got terribly outcoached in first 5 minutes. He gets burned by 2 quick line changes that isolate Kylington, who should never see the ice in an Avs sweater again. (This years Tatar). Then to pour some salt in that wound, Cooper manages to get a coaches challenge on a possible penalty (not challangable). Fortunately he was unsuccessful at said challenge, but did not get a delay of game penalty, essentially a free challenge. Kappo was fine, but didn’t do anything to make me think our goalie troubles are over. Team actually played a pretty good game after first 3 goals. Better finishing and possibly we get a different outcome. 1 player was pretty much useless yet again, he may be playing himself back to Europe. If he keeps up this kind of effort, no team is going to offer him anything close to his asking price. The injury situation is asking certain players to really step up, 1 of them was very good, 1 of them was solid except his weak passing efforts never get through, and the last one took a dumb penalty and that was probably his best play of the game!

Same, he’s a liability with the puck and justice step behind the play

Apparently Foudy is injured (again). So no chance there & apparently Olaussen has been awful to start the year in the AHL. And it’s pretty clear the Avs wrote him off awhile ago.

There’s no immediate help coming outside of Lehky. They’re just going to have to try & keep their heads above water this month. Mikko needs to start scoring & Nate needs to put forth better effort when the puck isn’t on his stick. Otherwise this team is in for a super rough month.

Kaapo got hung out to dry bad on the 2nd and 3rd goal

I would rather see foudy or prishchepov play then kylington. They need to just trade kylington already.

They signed prishchepov to a ELC so he should be able to get called up.

Vasilevskiy was outstanding tonight, and is the sole reason Colorado couldn’t get closer than two goals down the whole game. I did think the Avs played really hard and didn’t give up until the ENG, and would call that a good for them. Tampa was clearly the better team tonight from a player quality standpoint, but Colorado gave them all they had with this depleted roster.

Looking ahead to November, this is going to be a really hard month, schedule wise. The Avs are going to need to steal a game or two coming up to avoid cratering the rest of the season. Hopefully Lehkonen can come back during this next road trip, and Drouin shortly after that. Any chance the Avs call up another forward from the Eagles to properly replace Wood? I’d like to see Olausson or Foudy get at least a couple games here, and maybe even the hard-working Prishchepov (if he’s able to be called up).
