Figured out a way they can get under $88M once everyone returns but we’ll need to trade a player to get there

Thank you for writing it, because it is not an easy article to write. I can imagine that it took some time and multiple revisions for you to get it to a place you felt good about. Thank you for doing that. Much more informative than reading player quotes about “getting pucks in deep, playing to our identity, and making sure we pay attention to details.”

This seems to be unknown at this point. Aarif, on his Sunday pod, stated that he planned to ask CMac next opportunity. I find it odd how little info seems to be out there about all the mechanics of the NHLPA Program. Even if Nichushkin is entitled to 100% of his salary, it seems logical that the cap hit would be prorated, just as it is when a player is acquired mid-season. Then again, much of the player assistance program has baffled me to a certain degree, so what do I know?

I can’t wait to see the cap maneuvers when each of the injured/suspended players return. I hope the young guys step up in the interim and secure a future with the Avs.

Since Nichushkin is suspended, his salary will be prorated for the days he’s suspended. will that also apply to his cap hit for this season?

Agreed! The fact that it was assumed that an apology was necessary says a lot, I think, about the general perception of what kind of articles the Avs fan base wants. I think I speak for many of us when I say that we crave to know the workings & rationales behind the scenes of this often-secretive club. We tire off fluff pieces and searching for scraps of intel from the Pronmans & LeBruns of the hockey world. This is an illuminating, well-written, and well-timed article. Thank you, Aarif! MORE OF THIS!! =)
