I think I’ve found my true calling. I’m a full-time student too, and I earn money easily by working 3 to 4 hours a day from home. What’s my job? Convincing the good people of Colorado Hockey Now that trading Sam Girard will magically solve all problems. Simple. The more you scream “Trade Girard,” the more you cash in.

You earn $10 every time a member mentions that Girard is the root of all evil. Propose a shaky trade idea? That’s another $10. And if you manage to sneak in “too small for the playoffs,” you trigger the bonus multiplier.

Sure, some might say it’s a little questionable. But no, it’s not a pyramid scheme. It’s a belief-based economic system. A beautifully engineered machine where opinions become currency, and every comment brings you one step closer to your next crypto deposit.

As we say in the biz: “The more you trade, the more you cash.” And if you’re motivated, just use my promo code GIRARDOUT25 for your welcome bonus of disillusionment.

We may not have arguments… but we’ve got a business model.

It would be nice if Makar skated but he was at development camp last year and the team has a good idea of what he brings. He’ll still participate in off ice chalkboard stuff. Unfortunate for Roed but he’s a long way off so he’ll skate at future dev camps

Agree that if they decide they have to move Necas it should be done this week but the priority is to move Colton first. Not that they can’t walk and chew gum at the same time but Colton has a no move clause that kicks in on the 1st

So many variables. Is there truth to him not being enamored by his time here. Is he really looking for 10 per? Do the Avs deal him or go into the season with him a looming UFA.

In a lot of ways it’s much more messy than the Rantanen situation. At least with him you knew he wanted to be here. They had a rough idea as to what it was going to cost. And there also was a consistent history of production. Necas has really only had 2 elite(ish) level seasons. I’ve been pretty vocal about my thoughts on the player. But he is supremely skilled & still only 26. I say trade him. And the best time to do so would be this week.

Then again, it’s ESPN, and they’re a joke. However, I can kind of see what the Avs front office is doing in the draft, because it’s similar to what the Nuggets are doing. Drafting older players may not be the most exciting prospect, but it also means they’re that much closer to producing.

Just look at Prishchepov last year: he was an overage 7th rounder who got into a handful of NHL games as a true rookie, and didn’t at all look out of place. There’s a decent chance he gets even more of an opportunity this season, which is completely unprecedented for a 7th rounder just one year removed from his draft. He may not have as high a ceiling as an 18 year old drafted five rounds earlier, but he’s also a bit safer because you know what you’re getting from an already mostly developed prospect. It’s similar to signing college free agents, except you get a bit more team control with it, so I think it’s a more sound strategy than “experts” will give credit for.

For those that follow the Nuggets in the NBA as well, this has been their draft strategy for around 4 years now. They are also in win-now mode and drafting at the tail end of rounds, so they’ve selected older players like Christian Braun and Julian Strawther, in hopes they are ready to contribute to a championship caliber team right away – which was 100% the case for Braun, as the Nuggets won the Championship in his rookie year, with him as a key reserve. To use baseball terms, it’s aiming for a single, with a chance to turn it into a double. Not as flashy as a home run, but also safer under most circumstances. I don’t have any football metaphors to complete this thought. 😉

So, I like taking a couple overage players in this year’s draft, even if ESPN panned the picks. We’ll see who gets the last laugh!

Also, should we be concerned about Makar and Roed not skating? Are they nursing injuries or something?
