Joel Kiviranta Signs One-Year Deal with Avalanche

The Avalanche are bringing back Joel Kiviranta for the 2025-26 season.

The veteran forward signed a one-year contract on Friday, remaining with the club for the third consecutive season. His contract is worth $1.25 million.

Kiviranta, 29, was an unrestricted free agent who was likely looking for more term on his next deal. He blew past his career numbers last year, putting up 16 goals, and 23 points in 79 games. Even the seven assists he had were a career-best.

The native of Vantaa, Finland, was a key piece of the Avs’ bottom six last season. Bringing him back makes a lot of sense for both the player and the team. Kiviranta has chemistry with Parker Kelly, and will likely play with him again to start the year while Logan O’Connor recovers from his hip surgery.
