Avalanche’s UFA Forward Signs in Swiss League

Jimmy Vesey is heading to Switzerland for a couple of seasons.

The 32-year-old forward signed a two-year deal with Geneve-Servette on Monday, ending a stint of nine consecutive years in the NHL.

Vesey was acquired by the Avs ahead of the trade deadline along with Ryan Lindgren from the New York Rangers. The Avs didn’t use him at all in the postseason after he got just 10 regular-season games. He was one of Colorado’s two extra forwards for most of his Avalanche stint. The Avs chose to let him walk as an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

A native of Boston, Mass., Vesey had 101 NHL goals and 93 assists in 626 games. He spent the majority of his time with the New York Rangers, playing there from 2016-2020 and again from 2022-2025. Vesey played 434 regular season games and all 34 of his playoff appearances with the Rangers.
