The job of a coach is also to know how to sell his plan to the players.

When choosing his destination, Dubas’ hands are automatically tied. The return for Crosby was much less. Look at what Boston got for Raymond Bourque… they are peanuts. And Dubas would not be fired for this reason.

Well said. I don’t have the disdain for Bednar some do. And obviously feel roster construction is the bigger problem.

But I agree his biggest deficiency as a coach is his lack of creativity. He’s been heavily bailed out the last 3 years on an over reliance on of Mack, Cale, Mikko & Toews.

I do think he has a good read & handle of his room. And the players seem to respect him. All of that stuff is a big deal essentially with younger/modern day athletes. The coach player dynamic has changed so much in sports over the last 20 years. Players have so much more power than ever before.

I agree. But if that’s the package Dubas got back for Sid. That would be cause for immediate termination. Then again that horrid Karlsson trade should have been to, but he had just taken the job.

I don’t attack anyone but you. Because you always come across as all – knowing. And you try too hard to be clever & funny. We’re all just giving our opinions here. You just seem to think yours are fact. I guarantee a LOT more of what I saw is grounded in reality. Because I watch the games & probably have forgotten more about hockey than the knowledge you’ve accumulated to this point.

Also I live in the attic Rico. I have a window & everything it’s a pretty nice set – up….

Good point. I’m still shocked that SJ didn’t hold onto Blackwood until closer to the deadline. Obviously Georgiev was a throw in to make the money work. But a late round 2nd & Kovalenko? They must’ve really been high on Kovy & his potential.

There’s no way with as many teams that need goaltending. They couldn’t have gotten more than what the got from the Avs. At least a 1st for a guy who’s been a top 10 starting goaltender for 2 years now & is presumably entering his prime.

Still have no idea why the Preds wanted Annunen. Especially when Wedgewood is a proven backup.

I don’t think either would be the center of a trade this week. I think the Avs would like to keep Malinski, but if his inclusion is what seals a deal, then it happens. The bottom guys and most prospects just make the math work or seal a deal.

I mean, supposedly nobody wanted Fourgiev, Annunen, Parssinen, de Haan, etc. Yet there they went. 🤷‍♂️

Fair enough. I just don’t think they can be the centerpiece of any deal. Wood I really don’t care if he’s on the roster or not.

Malinski makes league min. I’d prefer they just keep him. Still see some upside there.
