This could be what plays out. I hope not, as the gripe w Necas is his lack of production and inability to handle the physicality of the SC playoffs. Avs would be better served to get a top 5 ,1st round pick and a prospect for him. Then use his $6.5M cap hit on other assets from a skilled winger to 2nd D pairing upgrade.

Obviously they could move him for assets, and also move assets to get someone to replace him. And if that works and we get a good player back (maybe with term), that sounds ideal.

But it may be more realistic to just keep him as our 2026 playoff rental. And not have to rework the chemistry going into the playoffs.

I think both teams say no, that’s a ton of value for ANA to give up and not sure the Avs want anything to do with Zegras. it would be fun if he was able to click with Mack but his skating looks to be an issue.

For your consideration:
Trevor Zegras – Nathan MacKinnon – Mitchell Marner
Gabriel Landeskog – Brock Nelson – Valeri Nichushkin
Eric Robinson – Pius Suter – Logan O’Connor
Parker Kelly – Jack Drury – Zakhar Bardakov
Devon Toews – Cale Makar
Ryan Lindgren – Sam Malinski
Sean Behrens – Nick Perbix
Mackenzie Blackwood
Scott Wedgewood

He was missed in the playoffs. As always, a trade sounds good in the abstract. Let’s see if it’s real and if he is traded, what for.

I’ve got a trade proposal to run up the flagpole: Colorado trades Martin Necas, Anaheim trades the 10th pick in this year’s draft, as well as a 3rd, and Trevor Zegras. Thoughts?

It actually wouldn’t surprise me if all three are moved out. How about a 3rd line of Robinson – Suter – Ivan/O’Connor? Should be a very fascinating off-season – and it already is, with the Nelson signing – and I’m super curious about what we do before the draft. Could Necas yield an early 1st rounder and ready to go prospect? Who knows?
