I agree with that lineup, if everyone is healthy. Landeskog may or may not play Saturday, as he is still getting into game shape. I agree that Kelly should play over Kiviranta, if it comes down to the two of them. Kelly has been a beast on the 4th line and PK.

The Avs have good depth this year and injuries will happen. Everyone will get a chance to play. The Avs have the luxury of sitting a bottom 6 player if they are not 100% early in the playoffs. Later, it may be a necessity. Landeskog will have a huge voice and impact with the team this year, even if a healthy scratch.

I wasn’t suggesting going 13-5. To call someone the “13th forward” – much like the “7th defenseman” – is to say they’re next up if anything happens to the first 12/6.

That’s what I would go with too, even if it is a shame to sit Kivi.

But the depth looks fantastic heading into the playoffs! Especially if Lindgren is at least close to returning.

100%. Kivi will definitely see some action at some point. Probably even in rd 1. It’s an amazing problem to have. I think you could make a legitimate argument that top to bottom, their overall forward depth is even better than 21 – 22.

I’m usually the pessimist lol. But if healthy I absolutely love the Avs roster & depth heading into the postseason.

I’m going Avs in 5. I think each game is extremely close. But this Dallas team just seems a bit disconnected at the moment.

I go with Kelly over Kivi just because he brings that super pest element to his game. if he’s not out there getting someone mad at him every game and drawing penalties or mistakes then you can swap in Kivi

A maximum of 20 players (18 skaters and 2 goaltenders) can dress for a game. A 13th forward means 5 defensemen… Three guys from the five practice lines won’t dress nor be game-eligible.
