I believe myself above average in patience with this team, still my tank was empty going into game 4. I cannot say how much I needed this performance.

That goes part of the way I’d like to see him go. I’m not a PR guy but from what I’ve come to expect from Landy I think it’s time he say something to the effect of “I’m not going to discuss my road back and how many days I was out, etc etc from this point going forward. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the support but from this moment on, it’s about our team and our playoff battles ahead. That’s my focus and that’s our focus.”. That would be consistent with the team first reputation that he has. As impressed as I am with his commitment, I’m tired of hearing about it and am a lot more focused on getting past Dallas.

He had already seen 34 shots in two periods, including 22 in that 2nd period alone. Still a tied series, and you want your best goalie rested, and you definitely don’t want him peppered with almost 50 total shots. Plus, there are plenty of times where a goalie switch can energize a team and lead to a come back, even if down by 3 goals. Calculated risk for game 4 that could potentially help their goalie for the games 5 and 6 that are now guaranteed

He is a really good coach and has a history of finding the Avs weaknesses. We have to continue at the same pace as last night.

I was always hoping for the best for his comeback. A highlight goal and more importantly seeing that net front battle with a giant on Girard’s goal was amazing. After G’s goal, I am not too worried about Landy. Hope he is doing ok today. I definitely criticized the Avs after game 3, but they deserved it. I was hoping they would flip the switch and be the dominating team that they look to be on paper. They did that last night by playing good playoff hockey and not being too cute with the puck. If they keep it up, they have a really good chance of advancing to round two. Hope they do!!!

Namely, the Avs keeping it simple and playing the “dump and chase” game while pummeling the Stars in the corners. Not waiting too long to shoot the puck and getting lots of traffic in front of Oettinger. Keeping the clear outs simple along the wall, back checking and clogging neutral ice. That’s the recipe for winning playoff hockey. I credit Bednar for the line changes and having the Avs prepared for this game. Now – let’s do it and close out this series.
