The Leeds Formula Race Team for 2017, F18, consists of level 4 engineering students completing academic team projects.

The team is then supplemented with individuals throughout the university to aid with manufacture and other elements of the competition. With the team size being reduced due to the introduction of a Class 2 team this year, the ethos of the Class 1 team is to produce a simple yet thoroughly tested and reliable vehicle for competition that will compete and hopefully thrive in the dynamic events and grab a top 50 position at competition. This strong foundation combined with the Class 2 entry giving a longer design and production cycle for the car, will work towards re-establishing their team legacy as a top UK university entry in Formula Student.
