LFS16 is the team’s 14th car with a large focus maintaining 2015’s reliability but with new technical challenges, with the aim of improving dynamic performance and driveability.
A new suspension design has allowed for further simplification and weight reduction in the chassis and now features both Front and Rear Anti-Roll Bars. The chassis design process has started with the validation of FEA, thus proving the simulations carried out are valid. Further analysis has been done to remove all unregulated space frame members, and replace them with composite structures. The 2015 aerodynamic package has been developed further with additional wind tunnel testing, focusing on surpassing 2015’s level of performance.
Aiming to improve power, torque, driveability and efficiency, the team is debuting it’s all new turbocharged Triumph Daytona 607cc engine. Featuring complete electronic boost control via the MoTeC ECU, the new powertrain offers ultimate flexibility, allowing the team to tailor the car’s characteristics for each individual event.
All team members work on the car in their spare time around their ongoing degrees, with the majority of the car being both designed and built on campus. This creates a close knit, skilled team focused on achieving the best possible results at competitions.
