SHU-Racing management is a team of 8 MEng Mechanical students (including Team Leader), and 1 Team Manager responsible for organisation of involved first and second year students. Each MEng manager has his own management and technical area, and is responsible for dissertation project students working within their areas.

SHU-R have significantly increased sponsorship this year with more technical support, as well as headline and supporting sponsors in Fusion Group and Carbolite Gero respectively.

Developing on SHU-R 2015, the aim this year is to complete in all the dynamics events not completed last year. The team is driven achieve the highest score in the history of Sheffield Hallam University’s involvement in Formula Student.

The majority of components will be made in-house at Sheffield Hallam University in the dedicated workshop for SHU-R, with equipment including a specifically designed welding table with jig attachments for chassis manufacture.

The team will carry on 10″ wheels and common uprights, new features from last year. SHU-R 2016’s chassis will be lighter, reaping the lightweight benefits of TIG welding compared to MIG. Bodywork and Driver Environment have also been investigating new manufacturing techniques, which will improve material performance and allow for weight-saving through thinner composite panels.
