Profile:
LUMotorsport is made up of 20 dedicated undergraduate Automotive, Aeronautical, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers from Loughborough University. LFS15 is the team’s 13th car with a large focus on the refinement of our 2014 design, with the aim of improving reliability and maintainability.
A new suspension design has allowed for further simplification and weight reduction in the chassis and now features both Front and Rear Anti-Roll Bars. Additionally the chassis design builds upon the extensive use of advanced composites used in LFS14, with a fully structural floor now implemented.
The 2014 aerodynamic package has been developed further with additional wind tunnel testing, focusing on achieving 2014’s level of performance with the new 2015 rules.
The Honda CBR600 engine and Drexler drivetrain is retained however with an all new intake, fuel and exhaust system, with a substantial focus on improving overall driveability and fuel economy.
All team members work on the car in their spare time around their ongoing degrees, with the majority of the car being both designed and built on campus. This creates a close knit, skilled team focused on achieving the best possible results at competitions.
