You couldn’t care less about NHL Edge. You couldn’t care less about the stats that show Necas’s effectiveness in multiple areas. You don’t care about Necas’s age. You ignore the stats proving Manson is no longer a top-four defenseman. You don’t care about Manson’s age but you sure care about Burns’s. You dismiss the fact that Burns is a former Norris Trophy winner, yet you do care about the hit stats for Burns and Manson. In the end, you only keep what suits you, or at least what aligns with your beliefs. For Manson to earn a two-year, $4M extension, he must be one hell of a locker-room presence.

Right. And we’re in the minority. Many around here act as if Chris Macfarland is some master architect.

I don’t give a crap about NHL Edge lol. You’re essentially listing his physical tools. You know who else had many of those attributes Neil Yakupov. Point being none of that stuff makes you a well rounded hockey player.

Necas will get paid. And if he stays healthy & with the Avs on a line with Mackinnon. There’s an excellent chance he puts up 90 plus pts. And he’ll still go silent in the postseason. For all the reasons I mentioned in my previous comment.

So let me get this straight according to your logic, we just allow top-tier players like Rantanen to slip behind the net, like Lindgren did, and all we do is glue our stick to the post? And that somehow makes the play harmless? Strange, considering Gretzky and plenty of others thrived by exploiting that exact area.

Didn’t you notice there was another Dallas player wide open and ready to receive a pass from Rantanen behind the net, potentially scoring into a wide-open cage? On that goal, Girard was clearly positioning himself to prevent Rantanen from cutting to the front after skating past Lindgren. But you conveniently left that out, probably because you’re so eager to convince people that Girard blew the play.

Also, Rantanen missed his shot and when a shooter mishandles the puck, the result becomes much less predictable. Yet you blame Girard for a puck that wasn’t even heading toward the net and simply deflected off his skate… in a sequence that lasted 2 seconds. That’s impressive! You must really think the rest of the team is awful if you’re reaching this low just to criticize Girard.

So yeah, on that play, Girard was expected to do everything: stop Rantanen from cutting to the net, prevent him from scoring on the wraparound, and block the pass to the guy wide open in the slot, all within 2 seconds. Clearly, Girard’s a terrible player… just like the rest of the team.

Necas is only 26 years old. You’re trying to label him, but honestly, that’s just a prediction nothing more. Necas is far from a one-dimensional player, despite how you keep repeating it. Haven’t you checked his stats on NHL Edge? Shot power, skating burst and he’s excellent at puck control and zone carry. If that’s what you call one-dimensional, I’m pretty sure over 90% of NHL players would love to be ‘one-dimensional’ like Necas.”

I don’t doubt Necas in terms of the talent & ability. But I think similar to Mitch Marner. There’s a large enough sample size to determine his game & his unwillingness to muck it up, the shying away from tough areas & contact. Doesn’t translate to postseason production.

At least with Marner if he’s not producing offensively. He’s still an elite defensive forward & pk guy. Necas is super one dimensional. And I could argue a downright liability in the playoffs. How many horrid neutral zone & opponents blue line turnovers was that guy solely responsible for? It’s not about Mikko. I’m just not a fan of his game or players like him.

Because when the GM comes out and basically implies that he wants to remake the D core behind the top pair, and then signs Malinski, that leaves Girard and Manson as the obvious targets, seeing how Lindgren walked and Middleton isn’t a top 6 guy.

The Burns gets signed, which steered me more towards Manson than Girard as the trade chip becuase Burns is also a RHD. That obviously feels wrong now.

So I ask again, when did I say I hate Manson?

That said, I am more than fine shipping Miko, as I’ve said before, and as he showed in the series’ after the Avs. Miko plays when he feels like it, and a lot of the time, he doesn’t feel like it.

No way I want him for more than 3-4 years. He will look damn fugly in years 5-8 of that contract IMO.

Necas – remains to be seen….potential shown in the brief time last year. Needs to accept <$10m. Might be a bridge, if the FO plays it right.

Get another cup first.
