Team profile

UBRacing is based just 50 miles up the M40 from the heart of British motorsport. 2014 brings the 17th University of Birmingham Formula Student car, the team having competed in each FSUK since it began in 1998.
This season’s team consists of around 50 students in various stages of their university careers, with a dedicated core team of 15 second and third year students. As an extra-curricular activity, this project is fuelled purely by the team’s enthusiasm and passion for design and engineering.
The design aims for our 2014 challenger are reliability, speed and manufacturing ease. The foundation of our aims lies with our heavily upgraded Yamaha R6 powertrain featuring new student designed intake and exhaust manifolds, further optimised by new cams and a range of engine maps. This combined with our space-frame chassis design equipped with full carbon fire bodywork and structural floors is looking to be a highly competitive car.
UBRacing would like to thank all of our sponsors, without whom we could not have achieved any of this seasons progress. For more information about the team, the car and our sponsors please visit our website at www.ubracing.co.uk.

Additional information
UBRacing is older than the FSUK competition; competing originally in FSAE we helped bring the competition to the UK and gain the support of the IMechE.

Both drivers Sam Brown and Andy Glencross are up and coming drivers in the British University Karting Championship.

20% of UBRacing members are women, which is one of the highest male-to-female ratios of all UK Formula Student teams.

Carl Hingley, our senior technician has been with the team since the start in 1997 and confidently tells every new team -in front of old members- that they are much better than th last years team!
