Team Profile:

Monash Motorsport is based at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. The team has competed in FSAE since 2000 with a strong belief in the importance of early testing and a heavy focus on aerodynamics.

Monash Motorsport uses a point simulator to justify all design decisions. The point simulator uses parameters such as grip coefficient, power and downforce to benchmark the capabilities of our concept against the competition.

Our latest concept, the M13, is a competition proven, clean sheet design. To increase the points scoring potential over our previous concepts, several changes were made to the car. The KTM 450 SX-F was turbocharged for increased power output, while suspension redesign was driven by a change to 10″ wheels and direct acting shock absorbers. The aerodynamic package has been redesigned around a drag reduction system, allowing for a much more aggressive approach. A pneumatically actuated shifter aims at reducing driver fatigue, driven by the team’s emphasis on ergonomics.

Monash Motorsport’s development has been steady, and in mid-2013 the team enjoyed the privilege of shortly becoming the number 1 ranked team in the world, a culmination of many years of hard work.
