Team Profile:

The current car is the seventh generation of the Viking cars. It has been developed by a team of 18 mechanical students and 10 robotics students. The Viking VII’s main focus on the electrical side is to optimize and refine the current traction control and regenerative braking algorithms, as well as implementing a CAN-protocol to communicate with the motor controller. In addition, the team will try to implement semi active suspension by modifying the dampers with MR-fluid and electromagnets. The major design change is completely new suspension geometry, made by replacing the old pull-rod system in front, with a push-rod system, and redesigning the rear pull-rod system. Another change on this year’s car is a new pedal box that integrates a sensor for regenerative braking in order to give the driver a better feel for controlling the braking force. All these improvements results in the objective of the Viking VII which is to end up in the top 10 regarding electric cars.We are convinced that this year’s car is the most competitive car so far, so we are very much looking forward to the competition!
