Team profile
Compromise, teamwork, innovation and training are the foundations of Formula Student Bizkaia, which is composed by 60 alumni of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and has participated in Formula Student since 2008. Our new team members are internally trained so that the team’s know-how grows every year. For that purpose, practice and training are everything for us: all our designs are tested on simulations and on the track.
For the 2014 season, we are continuing the path chosen two years ago, in which an electric motor was selected due to its innovation possibilities. The search for an efficient yet reliable single-seater has led us to design our own energy accumulator system and its integrated electronics. In addition, great effort has been carried out to introduce carbon fibre elements in the cockpit, the frame and the bodywork, so that the overall weigth of the vehicle could be minimized.
This, in combination with our brand new belt-powered powertrain, will ensure the competitiveness of our new FSB2014 at this year’s event.
Additional information
The FSB2014 is the third electric car developed by the 60 students forming this Team. All of them have worked hard in their free time to design and build this brand new vehicle, since Formula Student is not included in the regulated programme of our University.
However, even with the challenge of having to cope with the exams and tests of the University and the development of the Formula Student all at once, the Team has achieved a highly reliable car, which hopes that will continue to lead the Spanish national ranking.
