Team Profile

The BME Formula Racing Team was established in 2007 at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME).

Our formula student team trains students from various faculties, for example of mechanical engineering, transportation engineering, electrical engineering, who would like to try out their theoretical knowledge in practice through a complex project that includes designing, manufacturing, racing and maintaining a racecar and the team.

As an innovation for last season, the team launched its Formula Student Electric Project.

At the beginning of the project there were just a few members, but with time passing by new and enthusiastic students joined.

This season we are working on our second electric car and the team is still obtaining newer experiences every day. Our aim is to build the best possible car in accordance with our available means, regardless of time and human resources and to get even better results compared to last years. The Formula Student (UK) will be the second formula student event in which our electric team competes. Hopefully we will be able to reach our combustion teams performances and results.

For controlling the whole project our team is using Smartsheet, an online project management program, which helps in tracing the present phase of the project and documenting everything, which is important for transparency.

The team can not wait to compete but winning by standing on the podium is not everything. From our point, winning means something else, regarding the students, who partake in Formula Student teams, how they can grow intellectually, professionally, individually and working in teams.

Our mission statement:

“For the victory is not enough to build the car from the best parts; the team brings the soul into the car.”
