Team Profile
This is the University of Limericks first year competing in class one, and our return to the competing after 5 years.
The Motorsport Ireland UL Racing Formula Student team is very young and inexperienced. With that being the situation we aim to use FS2012 as a year of gaining experience, knowledge, data and developing drivers with the intent to return in 2013 and compete against the top teams.
Our car, O Jika, has been designed with the intent to not limit drivers by physical characteristics and insure comfort as well as easy to use. Durability and reliability is two areas of focus for O Jika. O jika also carries a few prototype designs and aspects intended of use in our highly competitive FS2013 car.
With our sponsors, the university and the team we intend to push O Jika to the limit and achieve the best result possible while developing and acquiring critical information for 2013.
We hope UL Racing can give the motorsport world a taste of what Ireland has to offer it as well as the depth of knowledge and high level of ability University of Limerick engineering students posses.
The floor section of the chassis is off the chassis from the last UL team to visit the FS competition, they compete back in 2005 in class 3.
The steering rack is on loan from
Munster Motorsport in Ireland, and it came out of a Jaguar F1 car.
The used on the car were the style specially not want be the team leader, the were supploed by Munster Motorsport. It is believed to be a joke as all members knew he didn’t like the look of them.
