Team Profile

Revolve NTNU was established late autumn 2010, to give students at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology an opportunity to apply theory in practice. The team is divided into an administrative department and six technical groups: Engine and drivetrain, Electronics, Driver environment and safety, Frame and bodywork, Suspension and brakes and R&D. We are very thankful for the support given to us by our sponsors. Kongsberg Automotive, our main sponsor, has supported us from the very beginning, showing great confidence in our project. Cooperating with Petter Solberg, a World Rally Champion, has been a great resource and inspiration for the team. Our University, with long traditions in technology and engineering, has also been a major collaborator throughout the whole project. Without the support and knowledge, based on traditions dating back to 1910, we would never have been able to establish the team and build a Formula Student race car. The car features a highly advanced, self-developed Data Acquisition System, incorporating more than 20 sensors. Using a two- stage variable intake, we achieve a high amount of torque from low RPM. Norway’s participation is long-awaited, and we are glad to attend the FSUK, representing Norway for the first time.

This is Revolve NTNUs first participation in Formula Student. The team is also the first established Formula Student team in Norway, and is one of the teams located furthest to the north. The theme of this year’s car is appropriately enough “Polar Exploration”, symbolizing both the careful preparations, and hard work, to reach Formula Student. The car is also made specifically to cope with the tough Nordic climate. The Norwegian rally driver, Petter Solberg, has been an inspirational partner and mentor. The cooperation has even resulted in some of the team members working with projects for the rally driver himself.
