Team Profile

Mobil 1 Team Sussex is looking to build upon the relative success of the 2011 team. For the first time in its (short) formula student history the team managed to compete in, and complete every event, and with that achieved a final position of 34th.

2012 Mobil 1 Team Sussex is a multi-disciplinary team consisting of; 8 fourth year mechanical engineering students, 10 third year mechanical and automotive engineering students, 4 product designers, 2 business students and 2 media students. One of the objectives of the 2012 team was to widen the profile of formula student within the university, we are doing this by getting as many people from other disciplines involved as possible.

The University of Sussex is a young, fresh and vibrant university with a growing reputation for excellence.
One of the best ways to achieve a better finish this year is to reduce the total weight of the car. The teams objective this year is to finish in the top 20, an objective that is well within reach of this talented young team.

Mobil 1 Team Sussex would like to thank all of its sponsors for their support, in particular, Mobil1, Palmer and Harvey and Ricardo UK.

– Team Sussex built the car for under 12,000 plus scraps
– Last year’s car was boiling on the way back to the pits but hopefully this year we’ll need a Kettle to make the tea.
– As its the electronics that always breaks we hope with no electronics team
