Team Profile

Sheffield Formula Racing (SFR) is now in its third year. With help from the University of Sheffield’s Department of Mechanical Engineering and our partners including Stauff, National Instruments and Raysun Innovative design we are proud to present our third entry to Formula student – a completely new design which lifts little from last year’s car. SFR has a small but experienced team of 34 members, incorporating both new and experienced students. This year we aim to complete all dynamic events and to be competing at the very top in both the costing and business events.

The car was designed with the driver at its heart, creating an environment which is comfortable and easy to use. The design allows for ease of adjustability and gives potential for further development. The design process has seen much improvement, with every system seamlessly integrated into the car as a whole. Highlights include a 40kg weight loss, front pull rod suspension and a cockpit suitable for the full range of drivers.
-Huge team of 34 members ranging from 1st years all the way up to final 4th year students.

-Third year at the event.

-The University of Sheffield has been named UK University of the Year in the 2011 Times Higher Education Awards.
