Imperial Racing is a team of 32 people from Imperial College London led by four final year students, all working together on the latest FS Class 1 entry, IC06. IC06 has been developed over two years with an emphasis placed on maximising performance and reliability whilst minimising cost.
From the outset IC06 was designed to be as compact and lightweight as possible. The chassis is a welded steel space frame comprised of only four bulkheads, minimising overall length, whilst power comes from a lightweight V-Twin Aprilia 55RX engine. Both the exhaust and intake lengths have been tuned to maximise power and torque along with a fully programmable ECU which provides the option to compromise between performance and fuel consumption. Notable features of IC06 include an automatic clutch which provides a launch control option, a steering wheel mounted gear change system to aid driveability and fully adjustable, lightweight, carbon-fibre suspension provides customisable set-up depending on the racing conditions.
