The Class 2 entry from Imperial Racing Green displays a new direction for the team, with the development of a hybrid aluminium monocoque and steel spaceframe chassis to house their innovative battery technology.
Keeping a similar drive train to EV2, the development of the new car allows for a lighter, stiffer vehicle and easier removal and installation of the in-house made battery pack. The research in this area has been led by Dr Gregory Offer and Dr Richard Silversides and carried out by Imperial Students. Their main objectives are to develop a car that can compete strongly in future years. They would like to thank their key sponsors in Ford and RS Components for allowing the development and construction of EV3 to be possible. They would also like to thank Senior Teaching Fellow Jeff Barrie in his role organising the team.
