University of Central Lancashire

Formula UCLan Class 1 consists of 15 members that are accumulated from years one, three and four of the BEng Motorsports Engineering Degree.

This is the first year they have taken on a team split to compete in both Class 1 and 2. This has allowed Class 1 to focus on specified feature refinement of the 2016 vehicle. The team has been split into five working sub teams each with specified goals; Powertrain & engine reliability; Chassis weight reduction; Suspension weight reduction; CAD & modelling; Management & competitive business model development. UCLan is equipped with a marvellous manufacturing facility and this has allowed all new vehicle parts to be manufactured in-house. This excludes the driveshafts which were kindly provided by one of their sponsors, GKN. Other sponsors include Tygavac, Brookstone Creative, MSC Software, Zircotec, Loctite, Global Technologies Racing and Life Racing.
