Queen Mary Formula Student (QMFS) is a brand new team comprising of 32 dedicated students from different backgrounds, ranging from engineering to business disciplines.
Under the leadership and engineering expertise of our Project Manager Raghu Subra, the team has been able to build a single seat formula style car. With the strong infrastructure, organisation and support provided by Head of Operations Aqil Hussain, this will be the first year of the newly restructured team entering the competition. The team aims to gain vital experience that will allow the team to develop and be more competitive in the following years. In addition, the team intends to develop both academically and professionally from the experience. The car itself is constructed from mild steel rather than alloy steel due to the welding process providing a much better finish and leaving no requirement for heat treatment to relieve stress. Moreover, the chassis was designed so that all the suspension A-arms would be mounted at chassis nodes to improve the stress distribution. QMFS would like to thank all the support that they have received from the team members, department staff and companies who have helped them build the University’s first formula style car.
