Now entering its 19th year, UBRacing continues to develop fast, light and reliable combustion vehicles.
The team consists of 30 active members ranging from first to final year students over a range of disciplines including mechanical engineering, physics and materials science. UBRacing is an entirely extracurricular project and is open to any student from the University with the enthusiasm and passion to join.
Following on from the best success in the 18-year history of the team (placing as the 3rd UK team and the highest ranked combustion steel space frame with no aero), we set out for an ambitious season. Last year’s structural carbon fibre panels fuelled one of the major design changes for the new car: the steel space frame will in fact be replaced by a hybrid composite chassis, consisting of a folded carbon fibre chassis and a steel rear-frame. An aerodynamic package has also been implemented to improve the car’s cornering performance. The team is confident this development plan will help UBRacing establish their position in the UK Top 3.
