Team Profile
New year, new team members and most importantly – a new car. For the 7th year in a row, Clear River Racing, while representing Karlstads University, has built a race car which is to compete in Formula Student.
The CRR14 race car has been designed with two main aspects in mind, the first being cheap manufacture adapted for the production of smaller volumes. The second aspect is sustainability, and as a result, glass fiber is used instead of carbon fiber for many parts of the body. Another outcome of the sustainability mindset is a swap from the CRR13’s four cylinder engine to a one cylinder engine, which reduces both weight and fuel consumption.
In order to maintain a level of simplicity, the number of parts has been reduced through certain actions. For instance, the hubs and the wheel centers are integrated. Also, there are no anti-roll bars on the car.
So far, CRR’s best finish at the Silverstone competition is 17th place. This year, we intend to improve that number and show everyone that Clear River Racing is a force to be reckoned with.
