Team profile
The Leeds Formula Student Race car comes from a rich 17-year history in the series. It consists of a passionate team of over 30 Automotive and Mechanical engineering students. The team is entering the competition with its 15th prototype, F15, with the overall aim of placing in the top 10 UK teams.
F15 is a lightweight spaceframe racer, powered by a 450cc single cylinder engine, with a custom fuel injection system. A host of new technology is featured on this year’s car including an electronic semi-auto gear shift system, a carbon-fibre aerodynamic package and a bespoke Arduino driven dashboard display. A rigorous testing programme has validated our design decisions and F15 looks to be our best car yet!
We are lucky to have access to a team of highly skilled technicians with experience in conventional and CNC machining processes. The team is also proud to be sponsored by a large range of international and local sponsors including: School of Mechanical Engineering, MAHLE Powertrain, MIR Raceline, Craig’s Motorcycles, ROCOL, Miller Oils, Zircotec, National Instruments, Millbrook Proving Ground and many more.
