LFS17 is LUMotorsport’s 15th car.

This year the team has focused on increasing the output of the team’s unique Turbocharged Triumph engine. Dyno work has allowed the team to improve the engine’s performance, especially at higher boost levels to benefit dynamic performance and driveability. Changes to the front of the chassis have resulted in a change of front suspension and driver controls. Anti-roll bars at both front and rear are incorporated into LFS17’s design. Like its immediate predecessor, LFS17’s chassis contains no unregulated members, a key factor in keeping the weight to a minimum. The 2017 aerodynamic package has benefited from real world, on track, testing of the 2016 aerodynamics, from this the aero team were able to gather data to improve the wings and floor for the coming season. All team members work on the car in their spare time around their ongoing degrees, with the majority of the car being both designed and built on campus. This creates a close knit, skilled team focused on achieving the best possible results at competitions.
