Queen’s University Belfast

Queen’s Formula Racing (QFR) is comprised of final and penultimate year students from the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Queen’s University Belfast (QUB).

The chassis of the car consists of a steel tubular spaceframe with carbon fibre bodywork. Optimisation of both the suspension system and unsprung mass has resulted in a lighter package with improved dynamic performance and increased adjustability. At the heart of the car is a tuned Yamaha R6 engine with electro-pneumatic gear change and optimised acceleration and endurance maps. QFR would like to thank their supervisors and university staff for their advice and help throughout the design and construction of the car, and their sponsors Nutts Corner Circuit, Hutchinson Engineering, Schroth Racing, NBC Bearings and Titan Motorsport.
