Team Sleipnir consists of 23 members from various departments within the School of Science and Engineering at Reykjavik University.

The team was founded in August 2015 and successfully competed for the first time in Class 1 at Silverstone 2016. The team’s main philosophy for this year’s competition was to make the design more lightweight without losing its reliability. The goal was to lessen the weight by at least 30% and finish all dynamic events. The focus of the team is for its members to gain experience in design and manufacturing of components and therefore most of the car is built by the team and machined in the University workshop. This gives the team members valuable insight into the processes associated with automotive design and manufacturing. The team is able to achieve its goals because of invaluable sponsorship from Beta, Infuse, Avon, Micro, Idnvelar and GA ehf.
