Staffordshire University

Staffordshire University consists of 14 Mechanical and Automotive Undergraduates, including a Team Leader and two Team Managers.

The first year entrants into the Formula Student competition are testing not only their automotive knowledge but also their design and management skills. Formula Staffs, are competing in the Class 1 dynamic events and hoping to be successful in each challenge. With each of the team members having a lot of experience in automotive design, they have all come together to represent the university with their first Formula Student vehicle. Most components are made in-house within the university workshop, fabricating each part to the vehicle design around the minimum requirements with safety and performance in mind. The chassis itself is a tubular space-frame, housing a Triumph 675 triple cylinder engine. Sitting on a combination of the 13” wheels and a Cane Creek suspension setup, resulting in a simple but aggressive look.
