Team Name : UWE Formula Student
University : University of the West of England
Class : Class 1
Car Number : 121
Country : United Kingdom

The University of the West of England (UWE) are competing for their fourth time as a Class 1 team, bringing with them an evolutionary update on last year’s car produced entirely in-house at their Bristol Frenchay Campus.

Formula Student is run entirely as an extra-curricular activity at UWE and the 30-strong team are incredibly proud of what they have achieved. This year’s emphasis was to ‘simplify and add lightness’. The steel space-frame is lighter than ever before with various other lightweight measures being incorporated across the car. The suspension geometry has received a major update and the team has moved to an auto-clutch, quick-shifter and flappy-paddle system to improve driveability. The team’s main objective is to compete in all dynamic events. The target is a top 10 finish amongst UK teams, with extra emphasis being placed on the static events. The team would like to thank the faculty and all of their sponsors for the continued help and support.
