As a smaller team of 18 students we take great pride in our work ethic and team structure.
Members are encouraged to take on tasks outside their usual areas of expertise in order to develop every member’s all round capabilities, with member’s degree subjects ranging from business to robotics. We are currently working hard to maintain an excellent standard of document control and data structuring. Founded in 2009, this will be our 5th Class 1 entry.
Last year the team entered into the Class 2 competition at Silverstone to demonstrate our design capability. We placed 5th overall out of 17 entries, making HWRacing the top Scottish University.
This year we have focused on reliability and manufacturability, building a robust car that can be used as a base for future design optimization and testing. Our electronics team have also made significant improvements to our data acquisition system.
Again, HWRacing would like to thank the Mechanical Engineering department at Heriot-Watt University, and all of our sponsors and partners, for providing facilities and support that make entering the competition possible.
